Join us at Longrain over Songkran Festival from Saturday 13th–Monday 15th April.

Kao Chae, rice steeped in chilled fragrant water, is a revered dish enjoyed during the Songkran festival, believed to bring auspiciousness to Thai New Year and keep you cool during the hottest months of the year. Its a dish considered ‘Royal Thai’ cuisine that dates back centuries. Our team aims to honour this tradition by offering its authentic flavours to Melburnians during the Songkran Festival, celebrating Thai New Year.

“Rice soaked in jasmine scented cool water”. “Khao” means “rice” and “chae” means “to soak”.

Luk kapi : ลูกกะปิ – Ka Pi balls, caramelised palm sugar & shrimp, krachai, shallots
Hom daeng yud sai: หอมแดงยัดไส้ – Fried shallots filled with barramundi, herbs, spices & palm sugar
Prik yuak sord sai : พริกหยวกสอดไส้  – Stuffed sweet peppers, pork, five spice
This dish is an entrée/starter, we recommend it is shared between 2 people

$60 Friday Lunch Banquet

Spice things up on your Friday afternoons with Longrain’s $60 lunch banquet, here to stay!

For $60 per person, the banquet includes a wine or beer to start followed by a feast of Longrain favourites; prawn betel leaf, heirloom tomato, yellow curry with charred lamb shoulder, to som tum papaya salad and of course, steamed rice on the side.

Bring your colleagues or your boss and make an excuse not to go back to the office! If you manage to stretch lunch out all afternoon, join us upstairs at Longsong from 4pm for cocktails and DJ tunes a little later.

Please select the $60pp banquet at the time of booking. Available for bookings of 2-7 guests. Pre-payment not required. Please advise us of any dietaries at the time of booking. Not available in December.
