Welcome to Longrain

Longrain, led by Scott Pickett, is a lively, vibrant restaurant, serving modern Thai cuisine. The dining room set in an expansive converted horse stable from the 1900s buzzes with energy. Our cuisine is a modern take on Thai food, blending traditional Thai recipes with a contemporary twist, incorporating fresh local Australian ingredients and Southeast Asian influences. Inspired by a relaxed, communal eating philosophy, the menu is made up of shared dishes to be enjoyed on communal dining tables – banquet style. Complementing the fresh, punchy signature dishes, Longrain offers an abundance of Thai-inspired cocktails.
Visit us before or after your theatre show, and head upstairs to Longsong from Thursday–Saturday to add a cocktail or two to your experience!

Our Thai Memories

Seared Hokkaido scallops, sambal matah, toasted coconut and cashew nut crumb. This dish is a collaboration between our talented Chef de Parties, Chef Yusrianto and Chef Milk. Growing up in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, Chef Milk didn’t always have access to fresh seafood, but when she did, scallops quickly became one of her favourites. She often enjoyed them with a refreshing pomelo salad, a recipe passed down from her mother and traditionally paired with seafood. Sambal matah is a traditional Balinese condiment. It is a raw, spicy, and refreshing sambal made primarily from ingredients like chopped shallots, lemongrass, chili, and lime juice. It’s often served as a side dish to accompany grilled seafood. Though its roots are in Bali, sambal matah is enjoyed in other parts of Indonesia including Chef Yusri’s family home in Toraja, Indonesia. In this dish, we bring together large, succulent Hokkaido scallops with a pomelo salad and sambal matah. This creation is a beautiful blend of heritage, family, and friendship, offering you a journey of flavours from around the world. Available throughout November

Longsong is the penthouse to Longrain; the upper level. Perfect for pre-dinner drinks or for a lighter meal, it sits nicely in that space between a restaurant and a late-night bar. You don’t have to eat – but you’d be missing out. The food is inspired by the flavours of downstairs and designed to pair with drinks. There are DJs spinning vinyl from Thursday–Saturday nights, a Thai-inspired cocktail list, local wines, craft beers on tap – it's a casual place to meet the crew until late into the night — no reservations required but dinner bookings are welcomed. Please reach out if you are curious about our venue and would like to know more.
